There are conferences for becoming a better hospital CEO, a better pastor, and a better small group leader. But where does one get training and encouragement for being a mom? After all it is a role and calling that has a fundamental effect on children, families, and society.

The Hearts at Home conference started in1994 to provide camaraderie and encouragement for moms. This year's theme of No More Perfect Moms truly resonated with attendees. Christianity Today's Today's Christian Woman connected with over 4,900 women at the conference held March 15-16 in Normal, IL. Through our booth presence we gave out 700 magazines and 450 free six month subscriptions. We also had the opportunity to speak with women about what was going on in their lives.

Women shared about their joys and struggles in a variety of different areas. Two special moms spoke about the loneliness, and sometimes desperation, of parenting special needs kids. Several moms talked to us about finding a mission for their lives alongside their passion for motherhood. They want to pursue God's kingdom, not just the happiness and success of their own families. Two women shared their shifting family dynamics because they've had to pursue full or part time work in light of new economic realities. It is not an easy time to be a mom, but these women are depending on God to help them fulfill their responsibilities joyfully and wisely.

It was also an opportunity to get feedback about Today's Christian Woman. About half of the women we spoke with had never heard of TCW, and the other half were excited we were back. Women were about equally divided in the format they prefer with half loving old-fashioned print magazines and half primarily using a digital device.

As we continue to work on Today's Christian Woman content, delivery, and marketing, the opportunities to meet with our audience are a great encouragement to continue the work of helping women love God more deeply and live fearlessly for his kingdom.
