Carol Stream, IL October 12, 2016 - The November/December 2016 issue of the bimonthly review Books & Culture will be its last after a run of 128 issues over 21 years. Earlier this month, the ministry of Christianity Today made the difficult decision to end the beloved publication.

In the final issue's "Note to Our Readers," Christianity Today President and CEO Harold Smith explains, "Publishing print in a digital age is hard. Publishing print that is thoughtful is even harder. And as a result, all that red ink has sadly forced Christianity Today to end the exceptional run of this outstanding Christian thought journal with this issue."

With every article engaging the contemporary world from a Christian perspective, Books & Culture stretched the minds of readers and was especially a favorite of Christian academicians. For its entire lifespan, Books & Culture was under the leadership of editor John Wilson. Wilson reflects that the publication "featured familiar favorites but also new writers: every issue included at least one—often several—who had not previously appeared in the magazine."

Smith adds, "Books & Culture provided a needed platform for the Christian mind to have a 'voice' in the cultural dialogue. We know its absence will be felt, but we find some measure of contentment in knowing how much of a mark the publication made issue in and issue out among its intensely loyal and passionate readers."

CT magazine will be offered to B&C subscribers, and plans are already underway for further expansion of the already-popular CT Books section featuring book reviews and commentary (http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/books/).
